👋 Hi, I’m Juan. I’m a computational biologist based in Copenhagen. My PhD at CABIMER (University of Seville, Spain) built a broad experimental foundation in molecular genetics and genomics (including my first steps towards high-throughput data analysis). In the Andersen group at BRIC (University of Copenhagen, Denmark), I transitioned progressively into bioinformatics, moving from cell line development and CRISPR screen setup toward full-time computational work: CRISPR screen analysis, iCCA multi-omics integration, and clinical cohort data. My stack is R/tidyverse, with growing interest in Python and SQL. I build reproducible pipelines, automated and well documented reports in Quarto, and produce publication-ready figures with ggplot2. Having gone through the ups and lows of both sides, I’m comfortable translating between wet lab and computational stakeholders, which turns out to be less common than you’d expect.
Scientific illustration and data visualization are where my visual thinking brain gets to work. This isn’t a hobby that just followed the science, it developed alongside it. Over the years I’ve produced figures, graphical abstracts, review artwork, and grant visuals for published papers and funded applications. A selection is in the Graphics Portfolio.
